(NYSE: NOV) and the leading provider of patient care services in the orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) industry, today announced the acquisition of Burge-Lloyd Surgical Company, Inc., in Reno, Nev., and the opening of a new patient care facility in Denver.
Founded by Harold Lloyd and Bill Burge, Burge-Lloyd has been serving orthotic and prosthetic patients in Reno and the surrounding area since 1947. Current owner, Walter A. The facility is located in the Midtown I Medical building at 2005 Franklin St. OSI's other Colorado facilities are in Aurora, Lakeland, Fort Collins, Boulder and Longmont. Bob Rodgers, a highly experienced certified orthotist, has been appointed branch manager of the facility.
OSI president, Jeffrey S. Levitt, commented, "Our acquisition of Burge-Lloyd is very exciting because it marks OSI's entry into Nevada and provides an excellent base from which we can expand to provide patient services to many of the smaller communities in Nevada and northern California." Levitt continued, "The opening of our new facility in downtown Denver will allow us to more effectively service a very major portion of the medical community. Our six Colorado facilities are an example of the company's strategy to fully penetrate key markets."
OSI is the largest provider of patient care services in the orthotic and prosthetic rehabilitation segment of the healthcare services industry. OSI currently provides services through 107 patient care centers in 23 states.
Orthotic rehabilitation is the fitting, design, and fabrication of custom-made braces and support devices for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions resulting from illness, injury, or congenital abnormalities. Prosthetic rehabilitation is the fitting, design, and fabrication of custom-made artificial limbs required by people who have suffered the loss of a limb from vascular disease, diabetes, cancer, or traumatic injuries.
