NOVA CORPORATION OF ALBERTA ANNOUNCES FULL SERVICE RESTORED
CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- NOVA Corporation of Alberta (NYSE: NVA; Toronto, Montreal, Calgary: NVA) announced today that full service has been restored at the Empress and McNeil Alberta delivery points. The 225 mmcfd curtailment (3 percent) that had been in place has been removed with the return to service of the Schrader Creek No. 1 Compressor unit. This unit required major repairs because of an unscheduled outage resulting from a mechanical breakdown. During the curtailment period, a scheduled outage for tie-ins at the Wolf Lake Compressor Station, and for pipeline repairs at the Simonette River was successfully completed, without additional curtailment impact.
Volume levels for the summer of 1992 have been well in excess of volumes predicted by shippers of natural gas on the NOVA system. There has been an 11 percent increase in volumes over the same period in 1991, and deliveries have increased 18 percent at Empress and 20 percent at McNeil.
NOVA's system is operating at capacity and in spite of this difficulty with the Schrader Creek compressor, NOVA has transported 99.5 percent of the delivery demands from May through August 1992.
"The pipeline system is designed to meet firm service contract commitments. Customer support for the installation of facilities to provide outage protection has not been forthcoming," said Bruce W. Simpson, president of NOVA's Alberta Gas Transmission Division. "We expect to continue to meet with our customers to determine their service requirements," he said.
