 NOVA CORP. OF ALBERTA APPOINTS THREE NEW DIRECTORS
 CALGARY, Alberta, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- NOVA Corp. of Alberta


(NYSE: NVA; Toronto, Montreal: NVA) announced today the appointment of three new directors. This step further strengthens the depth of expertise present on NOVA's board of directors.
 Two of these senior business executives have extensive and varied experience in the petrochemicals and plastics industry. The third executive is an accomplished career banker with long-standing involvement in the Canadian financial industry. They are:
 -- W. Norman Kissick, former chairman, president and chief
 executive officer of Union Carbide Canada. Kissick retired from
 Union Carbide recently after a distinguished career that began in
 1952. He has long experience in petrochemicals and plastics, two
 major NOVA businesses. He is also a director of the Toronto
 Dominion Bank, Canadian Forest Products Ltd., and the Canadian
 Manufacturers Association; and he is a member of the Canadian
 Chemicals Producers Association, Ontario Chamber of Commerce and
 the Business Council on National Issues.
 -- Nicholas Pappas, chief operating officer of Rollins Environmental
 Services Inc. of Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Pappas joined E.I.
 du Pont de Nemours & Company in 1956 as a research chemist and
 rose to become executive vice president and a member of the
 executive committee prior to his retirement in 1990. He was
 responsible for DuPont's worldwide polymers businesses.
 -- Cedric E. Ritchie, O.C., chairman and chief executive officer and
 a director of the Bank of Nova Scotia, which he joined in 1945.
 He serves on the boards of several Canadian companies including
 Canada Life Assurance Co., Mercedes-Benz Canada Inc. and
 international companies including Banco Sud Americano and BNS
 International (Hong Kong) Ltd.
 "These executives possess experience that will be of great benefit to NOVA. We're pleased to welcome them to the board of directors," said J. E. Newall, NOVA president and chief executive officer.
 NOVA is a widely held company operating internationally from headquarters in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. NOVA builds its future on pipelines, and the manufacturing and marketing of chemicals produced primarily from Alberta natural resources.
