NORTHWEST AIRLINES SELECTS DASH 8 SERIES 100S DOWNSVIEW, Ontario, Dec. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Northwest Airlines has
selected the Boeing Canada, de Havilland Division Dash 8 aircraft for operation by its Northwest Airlink affiliated carriers and has signed a memorandum of understanding to acquire 20 aircraft.
The 20 Dash 8 Series 100 aircraft, valued at approximately $190 million (U.S.), will be delivered between April of 1992 and May, 1993. The aircraft are expected to be operated by Mesaba Aviation at Northwest's Minneapolis and Detroit hubs. The award-winning regional airline began in 1978 as a single aircraft operator and has grown to a two-hub, 36-aircraft airline over the past 13 years. Mesaba's current route network serves 39 communities in 13 states. Dash 8 operation is expected to support the airline's existing route network and allow for route expansion. Placement of the Northwest Dash 8s brings the de Havilland orderbook to 379; 263 Series 1OOs of which 231 have been delivered and 116 Series 300s including 66 delivered airplanes. -0- 12/26/91 /CONTACT: Colin S.
