NORTHWEST AIRLINES ORDERS 5 ADDITIONAL DASH 8'S DOWNSVIEW, Ontario, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- De Havilland today
announced at the Asian Aerospace show in Singapore that Northwest Airlines has placed an order for five 37-passenger Dash 8 Series 100 aircraft, adding to the 20 Dash 8s ordered by the airline late last year.
Value of the new contract, which calls for delivery of the five aircraft in mid-1993, is approximately US$50 million. Northwest ordered 20 Dash 8 Series 100s Dec. 26, 1991 and Mesaba Aviation is expected to introduce them to service in the Spring at the airline's Detroit and Minneapolis hubs. Mesaba currently serves 39 communities in 13 States and one Canadian province. The Dash 8s are expected to both serve the existing route structure and to allow for route expansion. Today's order brings the Dash 8 order book to a total of 384 -- 268 Series 100s and 116 50/56-passenger Series 300s.
