NORTH TODAY: Viscountess Ridley.

THE Journal yesterday published an article on the death of Viscountess Ridley which incorrectly stated she was a member of the Women's Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve and took part in National Rifle Association competitions.

We have also been asked to make clear that her husband, Viscount Ridley, joined the Army in 1942 and served in Normandy during the war.

In lieu of flowers at the funeral on October 26, donations can be made to the Northumberland branch of the British Red Cross, the Newcastle branch of the Prayer Book Society or the Injured Jockeys Fund.

The Journal apologises for any distress these errors may have caused.
