NORTH TODAY: Council plea; CHILDCARE.

PEOPLE working with children in Northumberland are being asked to help council officials identify childcare situations which are in breach of the laws on private foster care.

Anyone who cares for someone else's child aged under 16 - or under 18 if disabled - has a legal responsibility to inform the local authority.

Now the British Association for Adoption and Fostering has launched a national campaign, called Somebody Else's Child, to raise awareness of private fostering.

Anyone with information can contact the county council on (01670) 533000. Email familyplacement@ northumberland.gov.uk or visit www.northumberland.gov.uk/private fostering for further information.
