NORTH SIDE ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF GENERAL COUNSEL

NORTH SIDE ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF GENERAL COUNSEL
NEW YORK, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- North Side Savings Bank

(NASDAQ: NSBK) President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas M. O'Brien reported today that Alissa E. Ballot has joined North Side Savings Bank as general counsel. Ballot has approximately 10 years of extensive legal experience in the thrift industry and will be responsible for all North Side legal functions, reporting directly to the president. She will generally be responsible for reviewing all contracts, litigation support, human resource legal issues, regulatory legal matters, and oversight of outside legal counsel. Ballot is a cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She is admitted to the bar in the State of New York and resides in Hartsdale, N.Y.
Commenting on Ballot's appointment, O'Brien stated that, "I am pleased to make this fine addition to the bank's senior management staff. The bank is operating in an increasingly complex legal environment, which, in turn, has required increased use of, and increased expenses incurred in connection with, legal counsel. The addition of an in-house legal counsel is, therefore, appropriate and desirable at this time in order to control legal expenses and insure the quality of services provided."
North Side is an FDIC insured stock form savings bank chartered by New York state in 1905. It serves depositors through 21 branches located in the Bronx, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties in New York and had approximately $1.6 billion in assets and liabilities at Dec. 31, 1991, and its core and risk based capital ratios at such date were 5.46 percent and 9.46 percent, respectively.
