NORTH EAST SATELLITE ENTERTAINMENT SELECTS SATCOM K-1 FOR SCPC SERVICE
PRINCETON, N.J., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The country's first live, regional, nighttime radio network will join the Satcom K-1 radio neighborhood on May 1.
North East Satellite Entertainment (NESE) and GE American Communications, Inc. (GE Americom) have signed an agreement for transmission service on the GE satellite. The contract calls for SCPC services on Transponder 7 through the mid-1990s.
NESE offers live programming in a 13-state region to almost 30 radio affiliates with a combined reach of more than 9 million listeners. It also provides advertisers with unique promotion opportunities through live special event programming, such as the 1,000th performance of The Phantom of the Opera at Toronto's Pantages Theater.
NESE joins Westwood One Radio Networks, Gannett Broadcasting, Gardiner Broadcast Partners and other radio broadcasters using audio program delivery services on Satcom K-1.
GE Americom, located in Princeton, uses the Satcom fleet -- five C-band and two Ku-band satellites -- to service cable television, broadcast radio and television, as well as business information and government markets. GE Americom is a subsidiary of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE).
