NORTH ATLANTIC RECEIVES $4 MILLION CONTRACT
 FOR SOLID STATE MEMORY MODULE
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- North Atlantic Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: NATL) announced today that it received a $4 million contract from ITT Aerospace/Communication Division. The contract is for North Atlantic's Solid State Memory Module in its full-MIL, 2Mbyte configuration. ITT will use North Atlantic's module in its Unit Level Circuit Switch (ULCS) which is used by several branches of the armed services.
Joe Flaherty, vice president of sales and marketing for North Atlantic said that, with options and upgrades exercisable over the next 14 months, the total value of the contract could be as much as $10 million. Flaherty said that the Solid State Memory Modules represent a new product line to the company. North Atlantic will offer 2Meg, 4Meg and 8Meg modules using commercial, industrial and full-MIL materials. North Atlantic expects Solid State Memory Modules, and associated read/write devices, to serve that part of the data storage market where harsh environments make rotating memory devices susceptible to breakdown and damage. The Solid State Modules are easily removed from host devices making them highly suitable for applications for which data transportability is a requirement. Such applications include data loaders, secure communications applications and mission verifiers.
North Atlantic Industries designs and manufactures computer, computer peripheral, communications and instrumentation products for the government, military and aerospace industry customers. The company is a leading supplier of TEMPEST printers, MIL-SPEC and rugged teleprinters, computer systems and tape storage systems as well as electronic test and measurement instruments.
