NORTH AMERICAN TECHNOLOGIES NAMES VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS

 PHOENIX, Ariz., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- North American Technologies Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: NATK) and North American Technologies, Inc. (Alberta Stock Exchange: NAT) (collectively referred to as "North American") are pleased to announce that Mark McGlathery has joined North American as vice president of operations. In this position, Mr. McGlathery will be responsible for overseeing the company's operations relating to the clean-up of petroleum contaminates. His duties will also include developing and managing opportunities for North American in the Middle East. In addition, Mr. McGlathery will be directly responsible for developing the first commercial application of North American's technologies in the area of upgrading heavy crude oils including the treatment for sulfur and pour point reduction, which the company is undertaking with Canadian Crude Separators, Inc. ("CCSI") at its facility in Big Valley, Alberta.
 Mr. McGlathery has a vast array of experience in the petroleum and environmental business sectors. He joins North American after serving Chemical Waste Management, Inc. for three years as a project manager. His responsibilities at Chem Waste involved the development and implementation of technologies to remediate petroleum contaminated wastes. Prior to working for Chemical Waste Management, Mr. McGlathery was employed by Exxon Chemical Company for eight years. During this period he developed innovative technologies in the field of well stimulation, and chemical treatment with oxidants. These technologies were applicable to the environmental service sector as well as the petroleum business. As a result, Exxon formed Exxon Environmental Services to implement this technology.
 Mr. McGlathery graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1982. He also has obtained a Masters of Science degree in Computer Control Engineering from the University of Texas. He holds two patents in the area of petroleum processing and has published articles in the scientific journals dealing with oil and gas and environmental remediation.
 North American is also pleased to announce that Mr. David L. Robicheau has joined the company as vice president of sales and marketing. Mr. Robicheau comes to North American with over 20 years experience in sales and management in the chemical and environmental industry. For the past three years he was the regional sales manager, Southwest Region for U.S. Pollution Control, Inc. ("U.S.P.C.I."). Prior to that position he was the director of international sales, Latin America, for Chemical Waste Management from 1985 to 1989.
 Mr. Robicheau will be responsible for developing and managing the marketing of North American's environmental services, as well as the market segments associated with refinery wastes. He holds a degree in business administration and marketing from California State University. Mr. Robicheau will operate from the North American office in Long Beach, Calif. North American believes that the addition of Mark McGlathery and Dave Robicheau will enable the company to continue to take advantage of the rapidly expanding opportunities in the fields of environmental services, treating oil and gas drilling & production wastes, and the potential for the upgrading for heavy crude oils.
 In a related development, Mr. Joseph Wilwerding, the president of North American's subsidiary, North American Drilling Technologies, Inc., that is jointly owned with Drexel Oilfield Services, Inc. ("DOSI"), has assumed full responsibilities for the management of the company's activities in developing the market for the processing of oil and gas drilling and production waste in the North Sea and the United Kingdom for both offshore and on-shore operations. In connection with these activities, the company recently delivered the first two Envirozyme(TM) units to DOSI's facility in Scotland. The first phase of this project is expected to commence within 30 days.
