NORSTAN CREATES NEW DIVISION TO REFURBISH AND SELL NORTHERN TELECOM EQUIPMENT

MINNEAPOLIS, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Norstan, Inc. (NASDAQ: NRRD) announced today that it has established a division to sell refurbished Northern Telecom equipment. The new division is known as Norstan Resale Services (NRS). Norstan has been involved in the secondary telecommunications marketplace for the past five years, since it began its Previously Owned Equipment (POE) business, which is now ROLM Resale System (RRS).
Paul Baszucki, Norstan's vice chairman and chief executive officer said, "Norstan is committed to leveraging the experience we have in the secondary market by branching out into this new area. We believe that this venture will be a profitable growth opportunity for the company. Norstan has the people, the knowledge and the experience to provide customers with everything they need. Jay Durbin, who is heading up this effort, has been very involved in the secondary marketplace since 1989, shortly after Norstan began its POE division. We are confident that both Jay and NRS will have a positive impact on Norstan's bottom line."
Durbin, general manager of Norstan Resale Services, said, "NRS is committed to providing the very best value in refurbished Northern equipment. We will also be looking for other opportunities to further assist our customers. Whether it be by providing them with other services, such as cabling and maintenance, or by providing other refurbished products, NRS is committed to giving our customers the 'Legendary Service' for which Norstan is recognized."
Norstan Resale Services is headquartered at 8980 Zachary Lane North in Maple Grove, Minn. The division presently has seven employees including Durbin. NRS can be reached by calling 612-493-6800.
