 NORFOLK SOUTHERN'S DOMESTIC CONTAINERIZATION PROGRAM LAUNCHED TODAY
 WITH DEPARTURE OF TWO LEASED UNITS FROM ATLANTA TO ST. LOUIS
 NORFOLK, Va., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Norfolk Southern's (NYSE: NSC) domestic containerization program, part of a continuing effort to compete against truckers, was launches today with the departure of two leased units from Atlanta to St. Louis.
 To implement the program, NS has leased 150 53-foot and 200 48-foot containers, plus 350 extendable chassis and 300 single-well stack cars. All of the equipment should be available by mid-summer for shipping double-stack containers.
 The program is a joint undertaking of two wholly-owned subsidiaries, Norfolk Southern Railway and Triple Crown Services. Containers will move by rail on NS between Kansas City, St. Louis, Atlanta and Jacksonville. In each city TCS will arrange for pickup and delivery.
