NORDSTROM RESPONDS TO CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT
SEATTLE, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The following was released today

by Nordstrom (NASDAQ: NOBE):
Responding to the recently filed class action lawsuit in King County Superior Court, Nordstrom strongly denies that it has committed any civil rights violations regarding its employees. Company spokesman, Kellie Tormey, stated, "We deeply regret that yet another completely unjustified attack has been made upon our reputation as a responsible employer."
Nordstrom's diversity record is recognized as one of the best in the retail industry. The company has a strong commitment to supporting minorities in its workforce.
 Employment statistics demonstrate that:
-- Nearly 30 percent of Nordstrom's total workforce are minority employees.
-- Nordstrom employs a greater percentage of African Americans in every region where the company does business than reside in the local labor market. Statistics are based on figures provided by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Nordstrom has recently faced attacks from several disgruntled former employees alleging various claims involving employment and business practices. One such attack was recently dismissed when plaintiffs failed to ever serve their summons and complaint. Tormey stated,"Nordstrom regrets that certain individuals are seeking to tarnish Nordstrom's reputation for the sake of their personal vendettas."
