NORDSTROM RECEIVES EASTER SEAL AWARD FOR INNOVATIVE CATALOGS

NORDSTROM RECEIVES EASTER SEAL AWARD FOR INNOVATIVE CATALOGS
NEW YORK, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Nordstrom Inc. (NASDAQ: NOBE), the Seattle-based fashion specialty retailer, announced today it was recognized Tuesday for featuring models with disabilities in its catalogs.
The company received an EDI (Equality/Dignity/Independence) Award from the National Easter Seal Society at the Hudson Theater in Manhattan. Nordstrom received a Media Award for two recent catalogs, both of which featured models with disabilities. Nordstrom's Christmas and Anniversary catalogs won the

award. The company has been using models with disabilities in its catalogs since July 1991.
"This is just something we saw as a natural progression in advertising," said Joe Aguilar, Nordstrom's ADA director. "The hundreds of customer letters with positive comments we have received confirm the value of featuring a diverse group of models in our advertising. Our commitment is not a trend. It will remain strong."
Nordstrom, which has 73 stores in 11 states, last year reported sales of $3.2 billion and earnings of $136 million.
