NORDICTRACK TO HOLD BENEFIT FOR THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

NORDICTRACK TO HOLD BENEFIT FOR THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
WHAT: Special fitness/health related event to benefit American Heart Association. Fitness seminar conducted by the "World's Fittest Man," Steve Sokol, M.S.
    WHEN: Tuesday, Nov. 19, noon-5 p.m.
WHERE: Walden Galleria, Center Court, Lower Level, Buffalo, N.Y.
SPECIAL EVENTS: To celebrate the grand opening of the NordicTrack "Fitness at Home" store in the Walden Galleria, NordicTrack and the Western New York Region American Heart Association affiliate will conduct a NordicTrack-a-thon. This event will consist of the public exercising together on three different NordicTrack machines to accrue enough exercise minutes for NordicTrack to donate a NordicTrack cross- country exerciser and NordicTrack Row TBX to the Heart Association. The public is encouraged to participate with just five minutes of exercise to receive a free T-shirt. They will also receive free materials from the American Heart Association on various heart-health related topics.
Also, Steve Sokol, M.S., holder of 20 world fitness records (including 52,000 consecutive sit-ups and 30,000 jumping jacks), will be on-hand for interviews and to conduct a fitness seminar at 1 p.m. Sokol, who is also an author and lecturer, will speak on the newest exercise trends including the need for strength resistance training, in addition to aerobic exercise, for a balanced fitness program, the latest information on fitness and elderly exercisers, and how people can tailor a program for their specific needs.
SPECIAL RETAIL/BUSINESS ANGLES: The Walden Galleria NordicTrack "Fitness at Home" store opens Wednesday, Nov. 20. This is only the 10th store in the country for the new NordicAdvantage chain. These stores have experienced phenomenal success despite a dismal retail sales environment.
The first store, which opened at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City in Arlington, Va., paid for itself in the first few months and now averages sales of $2,000 per square foot. This figure has broken all records at that mall, and is an average of four times higher than the other stores. The store's success is based on the unique concept of providing everything people need for an enjoyable home workout environment .
NordicTrack "Fitness at Home" features the complete line of NordicTrack exercise equipment as well as mens and womens workout/casual clothing, informational and motivational materials, and a wide variety of accessories.
NordicAdvantage Inc. is a subsidiary of Minneapolis-based NordicTrack. NordicTrack's parent company is the Boston-based retailer CML Group, which also owns The Nature Company stores.
CONTACT: Kristen Abbott, 612-368-2733, or Diane DeMarco, 612-368-2523, both of NordicTrack.
