NORDICTRACK ACCESSES SPORTS/FITNESS TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED FOR RUSSIAN OLYMPIC ATHLETES

MOSCOW, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Presidents Clinton and Yeltsin aren't the only ones working to promote Russian-American cooperation. NordicTrack executives have been busy this week in Russia, holding meetings with leading doctors, sports scientists and biomedical engineers from universities and sports institutes in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev, with the objective of securing international cooperation in application of new sports and fitness technology developed by the Russians as training methods and devices for Russian Olympic athletes.
NordicTrack signed an agreement today in Moscow which provides for the use of nine specific new products and technologies in development of new NordicTrack fitness products, as well as defining the basis for future collaboration between the company's product development group and specifically designated Russian sports institutes and inventors.
"This agreement represents a real breakthrough in international collaboration to apply the latest and best technology to the development of a new class of highly effective personal fitness equipment for consumers," said NordicTrack President and CEO James Bostic, from Moscow.
The agreements, negotiated in conjunction with Developed Technology Resources, enable joint development for NordicTrack's use of a broad range of new training methods and fitness products sourced from several Russian institutes which typically develop sports training programs for the country's Olympic athletes. NordicTrack is establishing a new technology applications group in its Chaska, Minn., engineering department to work closely with the company's new Russian colleagues.
 G. Robert Tod, president of CML Group, NordicTrack's parent company, also participated in the Moscow negotiations. "This agreement and the technology it brings to NordicTrack is a terrific extension of the company's existing product development efforts," Tod noted. "It's just what's needed to keep NordicTrack out front as the fitness industry's product leader."
