NO WINS, NO GOALS, NO HOPE; Roy's at rock bottom; CRYSTAL PALACE.

Byline: TOM HOPKINSON

EMBARRASSING, woeful, inept.

Rock-bottom, goalless and, with regard to where that first win is coming from, absolutely clueless.

Crystal Palace have made an atrocious start to the campaign - officially the worst in history to a Premier League season and counting. And while the law of averages says their first win - their first point even - has to come soon, with Chelsea up next it is likely they'll have to wait a little longer.

What's so strange about the position Palace find themselves in is that they do so with a decent squad at their disposal.

Yes, they have had serious injury problems, the biggest misses being Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke.

But even so it remains, by and large, a squad Sam Allardyce looked at around a year ago and was convinced he could keep up. He'd told pals as much even before the idea of taking the reins after Alan Pardew's dismissal was first mooted to him.

Big Sam didn't get the bounce immediately but, when it came, there were sTONKER some great wins, most notably against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

All looked rosy after a great escape, but the feelgood factor didn't last even a week before Allardyce walked out.

That's when the problems which have plagued Palace this season kicked in, the club turning to Frank de Boer in his wake.

It seemed a gamble to go for a coach entrenched in the Ajax way given what Palace have been used to in recent years. And so it proved. De Boer was sacked after four games and lucky to last that long.

Roy Hodgson (left) has come in but, three games in, it turns out it was not just De Boer's fault. Still no goals, still no points and still in the stickiest of situations.

It's unlikely the club's hierarchy will wield the axe as quickly with Hodgson, but it's clear Steve Parish and Co aren't going to wait around if that bounce doesn't come soon.

They are in a rut and getting out of it, even at this early stage, looks very difficult.

STINKERMAKE that a double-stinker and that is putting it mildly. Seven games, seven defeats, no goals for and 17 against. Need we say more? STINKER OR STONKER 4/7Crystal Palace to be relegated with Betfair
