NO SPICE FOR HERC; Girl power flexes some muscle at Disney, as JOHN MILLAR finds out.

Pop supergroup The Spice Girls snubbed a chance to be part of the latest Disney movie bonanza.

It was revealed at the New York World Premiere of the animated feature Hercules that Disney had wanted the girl power to flex some musical muscle on the pop soundtrack

And so The Spice Girls were invited to record one of the numbers that are performed in the cartoon by Spice Girls BC ... the five Muses.

But composer Alan Menken - who has won eight Academy Awards - said that the chart-topping girls said thanks, but no thanks.

The girls, who have started work on their own movie and who are planning a world tour and a new album, couldn't squeeze the recording session into their hectic schedule.

It's a decision they might regret, since Disney songs sell million of records all over the world.

Hercules won't be seen over here till October 10 but it'll be worth the wait.

After this success James Woods - best known for tough guy roles - will have a new future in comedy

His performance as the fiery Hades, Lord Of The Underworld, is hilarious.

More TV cartoon comedy characters are heading for the big screen.

Airplane star Leslie Nielsen is Mr Magoo in a movie about the short-sighted guy.

And that animated Tarzan spoof, George Of The Jungle will soon swing into live action, too.
