LEEDS Rhinos players won't share a pounds 50,000 jackpot if shamed Melbourne Storm are stripped of prize money for the salary-cap scandal.

Melbourne beat the engage Super League champions 18-10 in the Gillette World Club Challenge at Elland Road in February with Leeds promising their players the cash if they won the title for the third time in six years.

Leeds chief executive Gary Hetherington wants Storm to forfeit the pounds 50,000 a nd said:"We have asked the RFL to take up the matter with the Australian NRL.

"We don't believe we should be crowned world champions because we lost the game and that's why our players would not receive the prize money if it paid to us."

Hetherington dubbed the NRL punishment as "draconian" after Melbourne were stripped of their 2007 and 2009 Premiership for systematic salary cap cheating worth more than pounds 1m over the past five years.

Melbourne were also fined pounds 1m, ordered to return prize money and will not be allowed to accumulate any competition points for the 2010 season.

Hetherington warned:"It's hard to see the club suirviving these measures which are draconian.
