NJHA SECONDARY MARKET TELECOM EQUIPMENT CONTRACT HAS POTENTIAL FOR SAVING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS

EAST HANOVER, N.J., June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The first contract of its kind projecting savings of from 30 to 70 percent for telecommunications equipment for the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) has been awarded to the Atlantic Telecom Companies, a member of the Cincinnati Bell family of companies.
The agreement represents a major purchasing contract to supply secondary market telecommunications equipment and technical support services to the NJHA, according to an announcement made today by Jack P. Cowlishaw, Atlantic Telecom president.
An association of New Jersey hospitals based in Princeton, N.J., NJHA also provides services to Philadelphia Group Purchasing. Together they represent a total of more than 180 member institutions. The NJHA oversees various supply contracts for purchases of medical equipment, supplies, food and other materials for member facilities.
Given the extreme financial pressures facing health-care institutions nationally, and particularly the New Jersey hospital industry, this new contract provides comprehensive savings for purchasing unused and refurbished AT&T telecommunications equipment. These systems include Definity G.1/2/3, Systems 75/85, Dimension, Merlin, Spirit, 1A2 Key Voice/Data Terminals, circuit packs, peripherals and numerous other items.
The contract also provides products for older generation telecom systems, extending their useful life and providing substantial long-term cost savings, plus equipment service and repair.
The two-year contract was negotiated by Atlantic Telecom Account Manager Elaine M. Ault.
"After conducting a very thorough evaluation of secondary market vendors, we are pleased to award the telecommunications equipment contract to the Atlantic Telecom Companies," said Robert Pernal, senior contracts manager, group purchasing for NJHA.
Factors such as company location, market leadership, commitment to customer service and responsiveness, as well as customer references and a solid financial standing, were considerations in awarding the contract.
"We look forward to providing member hospitals with superior quality AT&T equipment and Atlantic Telecom service," said Mr. Cowlishaw.
Established in 1988, the Atlantic Telecom Companies is a premier provider of AT&T remarketed business communications products with a nationwide customer base.
