NISSAN TO PLACE ITS ADVERTISING AND PUBLIC
 RELATIONS ACCOUNTS WITH CHIAT/DAY/MOJO
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Nissan Motor Corp., U.S.A. today announced that it would place its Nissan and Infiniti Division advertising and public relations accounts with one agency, Chiat/Day/Mojo Inc. The decision was made as part of an overall corporate effort to maximize marketing funds and better focus all communications and image enhancement activities in the United States.
Nissan said it will shift its Infiniti Division advertising account from Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopolous Inc. to Chiat/Day/Mojo Inc. of Venice, Calif. The move is expected to create substantial marketing efficiencies for Nissan while improving the coordination of its major brand communication activities in the United States.
"The majority of our Divisional operating expenses go toward advertising, promotion and public relations," said William R. Bruce, vice president and general manager of the Infiniti Division. "Our goal is to find efficiencies in these areas while continuing to establish a distinct brand image that is mandatory of a luxury division."
Bruce indicated that Chiat/Day/Mojo will be asked to establish a separate staff for Infiniti.
In addition, the company has placed its Nissan and Infiniti Division public relations accounts with Bob Thomas & Associates, the public relations subsidiary of Chiat/Day/Mojo Inc.
Infiniti was launched in November 1989. It has U.S. sales of 33,654 for 1992 calendar year-to-date, an increase of 18 percent over the same period last year. In May 1992, Infiniti was named the No. 1 car line in the J.D. Powers' Initial Quality Study. The division has 127 dealers and ranks third in the nation in sales per dealer.
