NISSAN MOMENTUM CONTINUES AS SALES RISE 8.4 PERCENT IN JUNE
CARSON, Calif., July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Nissan Division of Nissan Motor Corp. in U.S.A., continued its 1992 sales momentum last month, posting total vehicle sales of 54,440(a) units -- an 8.4 percent increase over June 1991, and a 19.8 percent increase over May 1992.
Nissan car sales have been climbing steadily since January, with June volume up 15.3 percent vs. last year. Sentra, at 18,669 units, was up 43 percent over a year ago, marking its highest volume in almost two years and a record for the new body style. The Stanza posted an increase of nearly 60 percent from a year ago. And, sales of the 240SX sports car were up 22 percent from the same period last year, representing the highest volume in 18 months. These figures include the first full month sales of the new 240SX convertible. The recently released 300ZX convertible will contribute to the July sports car totals.
"June marks our fifth straight month of increased car sales," noted Earl J. Hesterberg, vice president, general manager, Nissan Division. "This, combined with last month's top ranking of our compact pickup trucks in the J.D. Power and Associates Customer Satisfaction Index, puts Nissan in a strong position as we add the new Quest minivan and Altima sedan to the line-up."
The Nissan Quest makes its debut today in dealer showrooms around the country.
