NISSAN COMPACT PICKUP CAPTURES TOP SPOT
IN ITS CLASS IN SATISFACTION STUDY
CARSON, Calif. June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The 1991 Nissan Pickup Truck lineup, featuring the Regular Cab, Long Bed and King Cab models, was ranked first out of 11 nameplates in the Light Duty Truck/Compact Pickup segment of the 1992 J.D. Power and Associates Customer Satisfaction Index. The study measures customer satisfaction with new vehicles and dealership service in the first year of ownership.
The 1991 models, all built at Nissan's Smyrna, Tenn., manufacturing plant, were designed at Nissan Design International in La Jolla, Calif. The trucks feature the most powerful standard engine(a) with the best fuel economy of any import brand, rugged styling, aircraft-style doors for easy access and a large greenhouse area for excellent visibility.
"We are thrilled that Nissan's customers ranked us first in the category," said Earl Hesterberg, vice president, general manager, Nissan Division. "It shows that all our efforts to provide the best possible customer service and vehicle repair standards have really paid off for Nissan customers."
This vote of confidence from consumers is reflected in the Nissan pickup's rising market segment share, which increased in calendar year 1991 to 13.2 percent, a full point jump from 1990 levels.
Continuing its innovative, award-winning truck heritage. Nissan recently introduced a new pickup for 1993. It is the first pickup in the world to offer optional non-Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), ozone layer-safe air conditioning using R134a, one of the most effective non-CFC-based coolants developed to date.
