NINTH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS AFFIRMS U.S. BANK'S MOVE INTO IDAHO

BOISE, Idaho, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Bank of Idaho management and employees reacted very positively to the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling on June 8, affirming the relocation of the bank's charter to Idaho last year, the bank said today. The decision by the Court of Appeals upholds earlier decisions favoring U.S. Bank made by the U.S. District Court and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
"Our goal all along has been to bring a difference to the style and delivery of banking that other Idaho banks do not now embrace," said Dave Howry, president and chief executive officer of U.S. Bank of Idaho. "We are good corporate citizens and intend to continue to serve our Idaho customers with a broad array of consumer and commercial banking services. We are here in Idaho to stay and glad to have this important decision behind us affirming our right to serve the Idaho community."
Since relocating in Coeur d'Alene in February of 1992, U.S. Bank of Idaho has opened additional branches in Boise and Caldwell. Howry has announced plans for seven more branches in the state by the end of the year, including four in the Treasure Valley and three in the Coeur d'Alene area. The bank has also committed to become the anchor tenant in the new U.S. Bank Capital Plaza, an 11-storey mixed-use office tower to be constructed in downtown Boise over the next 18 months.
U.S. Bank of Idaho is a subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp (NASDAQ: USBC), the largest bank holding company headquartered in the Northwest. With assets of $20.4 billion as of March 31, U.S. Bancorp is one of the nation's 35 largest bank holding companies, and has consistently ranked among the top tier of these companies in performance and capital strength. Other U.S. Bancorp bank subsidiaries include U.S. Bank of Washington, U.S. Bank of Oregon, U.S. Bank of California and U.S. Bank of Nevada.
