NINA HOFFMAN NAMED PRESIDENT AND PUBLISHER OF
 PRENTICE HALL GENERAL REFERENCE DIVISION
NEW YORK, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Nina Hoffman has been named president and publisher of Simon & Schuster's Prentice Hall General Reference Division, which publishes such popular books as: Webster's New World Dictionaries, J.K. Lasser, Betty Crocker Cookbooks, the ARCO imprint, and the Prentice Hall Travel program, which includes Frommer's and the H.M. Gousha map and atlas division.
Hoffman, 38, joined Simon & Schuster's Prentice Hall General Reference Division in May 1991, as senior vice president and publisher. Later that year, she assumed the responsibility for the H.M. Gousha Map and Atlas Company. During the past year, she led a major effort to reorganize the division's reference publishing activities; greatly strengthening its editorial, marketing and subsidiary rights capabilities.
Prior to joining Simon & Schuster, she served for 15 years in a variety of increasingly responsible publishing management positions at Bantam Doubleday Dell Publishing Group Inc., where she helped launch the Bantam hardcover publishing program and expand its computer book and audio program.
Hoffman holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She also did graduate work at the University of Maryland.
Prentice Hall General Reference is a division of Simon & Schuster, the global publishing operation of Paramount Communications Inc.
