NINA'S A HERO WHILE much-publicised Victoria Pendleton performed creditably to finish fifth on Pacher De Polder, the undoubted queen of Cheltenham, Nina Carberry, proved the true heroine of the Foxhunters.

Partnering her sixth festival winner, she was seen at her strongest getting On The Fringe home for Enda Bolger and J P McManus to repeat last year's victory, beating compatriot Marito. But she subsequently felt the wrath of the Stewards and picked-up a seven-day ban, for "using her whip above the permitted level."

On The Fringe, now an 11-year-old, will head to Aintree and, hopefully, Punchestown in a bid to repeat last year's superb hunter-chase hat-trick. He was a fourth winner of the meeting for owner McManus.
