NIKE RALLIES TO AID VICTIMS OF CALIFORNIA FIRES

BEAVERTON, Ore., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- NIKE Inc. (NYSE-PSE: NKE), the world's largest sports and fitness company, announced today it is donating thousands of pairs of shoes and apparel items to the victims of the Southern California fires from the NIKE "Just Do It" Fund.
"Because of the type of products we manufacture, NIKE has a unique opportunity to provide relief to people affected by these fires," said Virginia Hensen, NIKE's director of public affairs. "With this donation, we can help the people who have lost everything face the winter months with warm clothing and shoes."
NIKE's product donation includes hundreds of pairs of shoes and thousands of apparel items worth more than $25,000. The product is being shipped to Shelter Partnership, a non-profit homeless relief agency based in Los Angeles, which will distribute it to needy schoolchildren and families throughout affected areas in Southern California.
"NIKE has extended a helping hand to the homeless in Southern California over the past four years," said Kris Ockerhauser, product donations manager for Shelter Partnership. "This donation for fire victims is in the best tradition of corporate social responsibility in perilous times."
According to Hensen, the company's response to this tragedy isn't unusual. "NIKE uses the services of Shelter Partnership, and similar agencies in other states, to distribute apparel and footwear to the needy and homeless. We supply NIKE products to an extensive network of relief agencies around the country so they are ready to respond to emergency situations like the fires in Southern California."
