NIELSEN AND BASS FORM RIGHT MIX

 NORTHBROOK, Ill., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Nielsen Marketing Research, the world's leading marketing and media information services company, recently announced an agreement with BASS, Inc., to provide users of the BASS CIX (Central Information Exchange) host support system with a connection to regional marketing data from Nielsen. The new product, called Nielsen MIX (Market Information Exchange), is an important breakthrough in the delivery of affordable strategic marketing data to small and medium-sized supermarket chains.
 The Nielsen MIX will be available as an option to users of the BASS CIX system and will provide current regional product information including average pricing for individual items, sales trends and "hot-selling" items. Users will have the capability to measure and compare chain movement activity and the resources necessary to analyze promotional success relative to performance in the specific region.
 Since 1979, BASS, Inc., of Dayton, Ohio, has been the leader in in-store technology, working to streamline operations in supermarkets across the country. BASS introduced the retail scanning industry to the first hand-held remote verification terminal, now used in thousands of locations around the world.
