NHS is becoming private; FEEDBACK.

SO at Kirklees Council has at last recognised it is sleepwalking into losing A&E services from Kirklees.

I laughed when I read Clr Tony Brice's comment that he was sceptical about the consultation process.

Indeed, he felt that "the decision has already been made". Now he knows what the rest of us feel when Kirklees enters into "consultation processes."

Surely we should all be aware that the ConDem government's flagship Health and Social Care Act will transform a cost-effective public system of health care into one that will be more expensive, wasteful and unequal while diminishing levels of trust and corroding standards of ethical behaviour.

Unless the NHS is excluded from the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership - an EU/US trade agreement - privatisation of the NHS will be irreversible. Many people are unaware of this.

This may even be the unstated aim of the Conservative Party with its almost religious belief in the doctrine of the free market and competition.

Perhaps Ruskin said it best with "Government and co-operation are in all things the laws of life: anarchy and competition the laws of death."

The NHS is patently not safe in the hands of this government. Are we going to see it destroyed along with the Welfare State and the other few triumphs of government planning? I fear the answer is yes.
