NHS Wales Awards shor tlist revealed.

THE shortlist for this year's NHS Wales Awards can today be revealed.

The finalists represent examples of diverse and innovative work to improve patient care across Wales.

The winners will be announced on July 4. * Citizens at the centre of service re-design and delivery: Cwm Taf Health Board - an autism guide for parents; Cardiff and Vale University Health Board - promoting best practice and meaningful service user participation in health professional training; Aneurin Bevan Health Board - community Huntington's disease service.

Developing a flexible and sustainable workforce: Powys LHB Velindre NHS Trust Cwm Taf Health Board. * Improving patient safety: Powys LHB - using a national early warning system in a community hospital; Cardiff and Vale UHB - enhanced recovery after colorectal surgery; Aneurin Bevan Health Board - safe care and best practice for insertion and maintenance of peripheral venous cannulas.

Improving quality through better use of resources: Abertawe Bro Morgannwg UHB - improving the physical and psychological health of intensive care unit survivors; Aneurin Bevan Health Board - respecting patients rights to die in their preferred location; Aneurin Bevan Health Board - care bundles for urinary catheters.

Promoting better health and avoiding disease: Powys LHB - rural community pharmacy smoking cessation programme; ABM UHB, Public Health Wales and Cwm Garw Practice - Bridgend community weight management programme; Hywel Dda Health Board - high-risk diabetic foot clinic.

Promoting clinical research and application to practice: Cardiff and Vale UHB Betsi Cadwaladr UHB * Working seamlessly across organisations : Powys LHB, Powys Children and Young People's Partnership and Barnardo's Cymru - introducing Incredible Years programme; Aneurin Bevan Health Board - complex care occupational therapy in a community setting; Aneurin Bevan health Board - integrated seamless mental health and social care service.
