NHA opens road from Islamabad to Gilgit via Abbottabad-Naran-Jalkhad.

ISLAMABAD, August 18, 2010 (Frontier Star): National Highway Authority has opened road from Islamabad to Gilgit via Abbottabad-Naran-Jalkhad and Chillas. This was stated in a press release issued by NHA here on Wednesday. NHA is making practical advancement for earlier repair and restoration of roads and bridges affected by the recent heavy rains & floods. This would help facilitate rescue, relief and rehabilitation operation in the flood affected areas. According to the press release, Bailey Bridge on damaged Chakdara bridge at Km 88+100 has been launched and road is open for light vehicles. Bailey Bridge has also been placed on Multan-Bewata road and heavy traffic from Multan to D.G Khan has been restored. Kotri-Kashmore road between Karimpur-Unerwah is still submerged under 3 to 4 feet water due to breach of Thori Band and traffic is still suspended.
