NGHA-KAMC and DSFH face off for title in Makati Express-Sarawat 1st Kalayaan Cup.

JEDDAH: NGHA-KAMC will be looking to complete its unbeaten run to the women's division championship when it plays Dr. Suleiman Fakeeh Hospital in the final Friday after both teams dispose of their semifinal opponents during Week 3 in the Makati Express Cargo-Sarawat Superstores 1st Kalayaan Volleyball Cup 2016 at the Trio Ranch & Country Club in Briman District here. Title favorite NGHA-KAMC was a straight away winner over winless Saudi German Hospital 25-7, 25-7 in the first semifinal last Friday for its fourth straight victory in the tournament. Though also winner by straight sets DSFH took some doing in a 25-16, 25-19 triumph over Dr. Erfan Bagedo Hospital in the second semifinal. Awarded Best Player for the women's semifinal matches were Gina Alanguilan of NGHA-KAMC and Ave Gene Denosta of DSFH. In Friday's championship game DSFH aims to avenge its only defeat in the tournament but it will be a daunting task considering the impressive form of NGHA-KAMC. DSFH setter Helen Daygon said the semifinal was not at all easy. "We've been working and practicing since March to get this point and it paid off finally," Daygon added. "They've been working so hard in practice, knowing now that every game is going to be a fight," DSFH head coach Willie Camaclang said. "Everybody wants to win. It's not about how bad you want to win, it's about how bad you're willing to fight for it," assistant coach Jonathan Contreras added. To cap the three games schedule Friday is the men's final between Play Time and Jeddah Blue Spikers. Play Time like the NGHA-KAMC will be looking to seal a title sweep having finished the double round robin in the division at 4-0. The day starts with the match at 5:30 p.m. for third and fourth between Dr. Erfan Bagedo Hospital and Saudi German Hospital, followed by the women's final at 6:30 p.m. The tournament is organized by Dreamstar Productions for Sports under the leadership of Al Moran Bacleon and supported by major sponsors Makati Express Cargo and Sarawat Superstores and co-sponsors OSN Pinoy, Frendi, Fawri Remittance Services, Bubble Nation, SMDC Internatinal Sales Group through Allan Castillo, Emirates Airlines and Manila's Mang Inasal Restaurant, with support from Kabalikat Civicom through Chairman Alvin Salenga and Sammy Silvestre's Kulay Philippine Photographers Community. Event Planner/Tournament Organizer Maki De Guzman heads the Organizing Committee that also include Finance Officer Joey Villanueva, Erwin Reyes, production and host; Jerry Lagrimas, technical adviser; Jettraw Alcala and Ernie Apolo, technical/logistic support; Harold Amper, referees and umpires in-charge, Edgar Zantua, linesmen in- charge, Program Coordinator Wilma Famorcan and table committee Michelle Angeles and Noreen Roxas.
