NEXIS(R) SERVICE AUGMENTS INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS, NEWS OFFERINGS
DAYTON, Ohio, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Additions to the NEXIS(R) information service, including Reuters Textline, now make the Mead Data Central Inc., online offerings the most complete source of international coverage, with an accent on European materials.
Textline has more than 300 sources dating back to 1980, including about 60 already available on the NEXIS service. Textline materials are found in the WORLD library of the NEXIS service in the TXTNWS group file.
"We are pleased to release what we consider to be the most complete NEXIS product ever," said Joseph C. Rhyne, vice president and general manager of Business Information Services at Mead Data Central. "The enhancement comes in large part from Textline and other critical news and business sources. For users in Europe, Asia and North and South America, we believe we now offer a capability unmatched by others in the breadth and depth of information sources for our targeted customer segments."
Textline contains nearly 90 percent full-text materials that are comprehensively indexed and coded.
It contains worldwide financial and business news from newspapers, newsletters and industry and trade publications, with emphasis on European coverage. Information is translated from 17 languages into English, although some publications also are carried in their original language.
Sources of international business and financial data continue to multiply on the NEXIS service. Newly added publications include Germany's Hoppenstedt German Trade Associations directory and four more newsletters from the Europe Information Service: Europe Energy, Europe Environment, Transport Europe and European Insight, a weekly brief on European Community-related happenings.
Other international products of note now online include the Canada NewsWire, containing news releases from more than 5,000 Canadian companies and organizations; and Notisur, a bi-weekly news and analysis report on South American and Caribbean political affairs.
The NEXIS service is a computer-assisted electronic information service offering full-text articles from the world's leading news and business sources, including non-English language publications. It is the exclusive online source of The New York Times.
Mead Data Central, Inc., is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mead Corporation. Both companies have headquarteres in Dayton, Ohio.
