NEWWEST AIRLINES FILES APPLICATION

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- NewWest Airline Inc., the proposed startup airline headquartered in Albuquerque, today made formal application with the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration for the certificates necessary to start operations. L. Thomas Ferguson, NewWest's chairman, stated, "This filing represents the culmination of almost two years of planning and hard work by a group of talented individuals who have had a vision and seized upon the opportunity to act upon it."
In its filing, NewWest proposes a startup date of March 1, 1994, utilizing a fleet of new Stage III aircraft to serve markets between 400 miles and 900 miles in distance which are currently overpriced, underserved, or both. "In targeting markets such as these and offering passengers a full range of amenities at reasonable fares, we believe public acceptance will be strong," said Craig Ferguson, president and chief executive officer of NewWest.
NewWest will consolidate all of its airline-related activities within its new headquarters/maintenance facility located at the Albuquerque International Airport, allowing for the effective utilization of both personnel and space.
