 NEWS CONFERENCE SLATED AT 5:45 P.M. ON CWA-BELL ATLANTIC TALKS
 Union officers and negotiators will conduct a press briefing tonight on the status of contract negotiations at Bell Atlantic, to be held just prior to a meeting of local union presidents from throughout the Bell Atlantic service area.
 TIME: The briefing will begin at 5:45 p.m.
 LOCATION: The Washington Court Hotel, 525 New Jersey Ave., N.W.,
 Washington -- in the main Ballroom (sublevel).
 There will be a photo opportunity at the opening of the local union presidents meeting, although the meeting itself will be closed to the public.
 Leaders of the Communications Workers of America, representing 40,000 Bell Atlantic workers, and of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, representing 12,000 workers, will conduct the briefing.
 The Union contract at Bell Atlantic expired at midnight last night, whereupon negotiators agreed to come back and resume negotiations beginning at 11:00 a.m., today.
