NEWS AMERICA FSI SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH CMN

NEW YORK, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- News America FSI, a division of the New Corporation Limited, announced today that it has signed a two- year agreement with Children's Miracle Network (CMN) to carry a CMN- themed insert for 1994 and 1995. This agreement marks the eighth and ninth consecutive years News America has carried this program. Children's Miracle Network is an international fund raising organization benefiting hospitals for children throughout the United States and Canada. The annual Children's Miracle Network Telethon is the largest annual telethon in existence. The 1992 telethon recorded a toteboard total of over $106 million. CMN's hallmark is that 100 percent of the local telethon donations stay in the communities in which they were made to benefit local participating hospitals. This year the telethon is scheduled for June 5 and 6.
"Our partnership with News America FSI is part of a cause marketing effort recognized by marketing professionals as the 'gold standard.' That's because it's a win-win situation for everyone involved. Consumers get a good deal, hospitalized children benefit and the nearly 100 brands involved experience improved sales," said Joseph Lake, vice president and chief operating officer of CMN.
This year, the Children's Miracle Network insert is scheduled for June 6, 1993. As part of the event, the CMN hospitals solicit support from local retailers in the form of advertising and in-store display activity. This year, for the first time, the CMN promotion will also include News America's Hispanic FSI which will reach 325,000 households. In addition, a full page ad in TV Guide will also appear spotlighting those retailers who support the participating brands with feature ROP advertisements.
"News America is proud to continue our relationship with such a worthwhile charity as Children's Miracle Network. If we can continue to bring new facets to the program, as we did with the Hispanic FSI, it only underscores our commitment to the CMN event," said Paul V. Carlucci, president of News America FSI Inc.
News America FSI distributes free-standing inserts to 55 million homes every week via 390 Sunday newspapers. Free-standing inserts are cooperative programs of product coupons.
