NEWPORT County finish; Welsh Football watch.

Byline: Terry Phillips

NEWPORT County finish their Blue Square South season with three successive home matches - and that could yet lift them into the play-off positions.

They are ninth following a disastrous 1-0 home defeat against Havant and Waterlooville, but are only a couple of points off the play-offs with a game in hand.

Only two points separate six clubs chasing the fifth and final play-off place. There is also a chance of catching Eastleigh in fourth.

They were on 66 points before today's fixtures, ahead of Bishop Stortford plus Havant on 63, Fisher Athletic and Bath City on 62, Newport and Braintree on 61.
