NEWPARK RESOURCES ANNOUNCES OPENING OF SEVENTH WASTE TRANSFER FACILITY

NEWPARK RESOURCES ANNOUNCES OPENING OF SEVENTH WASTE TRANSFER FACILITY
NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Newpark Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ: NPRS), today announced the opening of a new Nonhazardous Oilfield Waste (NOW) transfer facility at Cameron, La. This brings to seven the number of Newpark transfer stations operating along the Gulf Coast from Venice, La., to Ingleside, Texas.
Transfer stations receive NOW waste from trucks or marine vessels, from which it is transported on Coast Guard-certified barges to the company's Port Arthur, Texas, processing plant. According to Newpark, this is the only facility in the Gulf Coast market that processes such waste, creating a commercial reusable product and thereby minimizing the long-term liability of its oil company customers.
James D. Cole, Newpark president and CEO, described the addition of the Cameron, La., transfer station as "another step in the expansion of the company's integrated environmental services throughout the Gulf Coast. The facility in Western Louisiana will significantly reduce our customers' cost of transporting their waste to our disposal facilities," he said.
Newpark's integrated environmental services include (i) site assessment and preparation; (ii) waste pit design and construction; (iii) onsite monitoring and treatment; (iv) regulatory compliance; (v) site closure and (vi) offsite processing on nonhazardous waste into a reusable product, utilizing proprietary technology developed by the company. Newpark's comprehensive environmental services are also used to remediate inactive waste pits resulting from past drilling and production operations. Newpark believes that it is the only company operating in the Gulf Coast region that provides these services to the oil and gas industry on an integrated basis.
