NAMES REGINALD DAVENPORT SVP OPERATIONS
NEW YORK, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Reginald Davenport, senior vice president and chief financial officer of The New York Times Company Regional Newspaper Group, has been named a senior vice president operations of the group, it was announced today by John R. Harrison, group president.
In his new role Davenport will oversee 19 of the group's smaller newspapers which are located primarily in the Southeast.
"This new assignment recognizes Reggie's importance to the success of our newspapers," said Harrison. "Now he will have a greater opportunity to make those 19 newspapers more indispensable to our readers and advertisers than ever before."
Davenport, 43 years old, joined The New York Times Company Regional Newspaper Group in 1974 as controller. Since that time the group, which has headquarters in Atlanta, has grown from 12 to 32 newspapers. Previously, Davenport worked for the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand and for Beatrice Foods Company. Davenport is a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. and is a CPA. He is on the board of directors of the Southern Newspapers Publishers Association.
