 BINGHAMTON, N.Y., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- New York State Electric &

Gas Corporation (NYSE: NGE) today announced it has revised its current electric rate request to $99.1 million, or 7.1 percent, and its natural gas rate request to $15.3 million, or 6.2 percent. The company also revised its requested return on common equity from 12.8 percent to 11.7 percent. The revisions were based on certain adjustments and updates to its August 1991 filing.
In August 1991, the company filed with the Public Service Commission of the State of New York (PSC) for an electric rate increase of $150 million, or 10.8 percent, and a natural gas rate increase of $32 million, or 13.4 percent, to become effective on Aug. 1, 1992. Those filings provided for a 12.8 percent return on common equity.
In January 1992, the PSC staff recommended a $64.3 million, or 4.6 percent, electric rate increase and an $11 million, or 4.4 percent, natural gas increase. The PSC staff also recommended an 11.33 percent return on common equity.
A final rate decision is expected from the PSC in July 1992. The company is unable to predict the outcome of this proceeding.
