NEW YORK HOME TEXTILES MARKET TO OFFER GLOBAL FASHION DIVERSITY.

New York--Introductions at the New York Home Textiles Market, opening on March 31, will reflect the industry's global expansion, in both substance and style.

Technological innovations seen at recent European markets will cross all categories, from basic bedding to windows to decorative accessories. Fashion will run the gamut from runway-inspired fabrics and designs to ethnic embellishments gathered around the world. Colors will reflect everything from the Serengeti's earth tones to vintage French pastels and Tiffany blues. A veritable bazaar of new product categories, including licensed lines and brand extensions, will tempt even the country's most world-weary shoppers.

The following offers a sampling of what some suppliers will show.

American Fiber Industries

104 W. 40th Street

4th Floor

American Fiber will be launching two new products -- the Body Double feather body pillow that folds into a reading pillow, and a Sherpa cotton mattress pad. Also new at market will be the Wamsutta Elite collection of feather beds, pillows and oversized down comforters.

Arlee Home Fashions

261 Fifth Avenue

6th Floor

Arlee's decorative pillow introductions will range from embroidered sweater knits to Old World-embellished tapestries and Middle Eastern-inspired jacquards. Its Lee's Curtains division will offer embroidered lace and burnout sheers, while its Table Trends linens will include coordinated contemporary, traditional and textured looks.

Avon Home Fashions

295 Fifth Avenue

Suite 1512 Avon will be introducing Croscill table linens in a four-tiered, solid color program. It will also add new categories with its Living Rooms collection of coordinated decorative pillows, throws and rugs.

Bardwil Linens

Bardwil will be introducing Snap Shot, featuring a new photo-transfer printing process depicting floral images in a fashion-forward color palette of blues, taupes and linen.

Barth and Dreyfuss of California

Suite 907

Barth and Dreyfuss will be introducing a new license -- the highly recognized Got Milk? brand -- in kitchen towels, mitts, potholders and placemats. It will also expand its decorative pillow line with raw silk, cotton and jute styles slated to retail at $9.99.

Biederlack's new line of microfiber blankets and throws and Cushion Craft pillows by designers Nick&Nora will include patterns called Jungle Jim, Cloud Nine and Counting Sheep.

Brentwood will be adding pillows, pads, floor cushions and bedrests to its Serengeti collection of animal skins and furs, and introducing a step-up program of leather and suede pillows targeted to retail at $29.95.

Burlington House's window introductions will include Imperial Moire, an iridescent woven moire fabric in five colors; and Deco, inspired by today's apparel techno-fabrics, sewn to create a positive/negative banding effect by using the reverse of the face fabric.

C & F Enterprises

C & F's new Chantelle collection of bedding will offer a quilt, pillow shams and decorative pillows in an antique floral cotton print and vintage colors.

Cecil Saydah will be introducing its 2001 beach towel line, offering several constructions in the same color palette and design theme. Kitchen introductions will include an everyday applique collection with a handcrafted look.

CHF will be introducing a contemporary iridescent curtain called Graffiti in a midtone color palette; and Henna, a monofilament sheer in rich shades overprinted with a metallic gold scroll.

Elrene Home Fashions

Elrene will be introducing its Villeroy & Boch coordinated collection of table linens collection in prints, wovens and solid colors. Its Animal Instincts line will offer realistic skin looks and fabrications, including leather and straw tablecloths and accessories.

Ex-Cell will introduce new shower curtains and accessories in its Fieldcrest, Royal Velvet, Cannon and Ex-Cell lines; decorative pillows in Madison Landing and Ex-Cell brands; and table linens in its Kemp & Beatley and Pfaltzgraff lines.

Louisville's introductions will include Sleep Cloud mattress pads, with a satin-smooth top permanently bonded to a high-density, medical grade, machine-washable foam.

Suite 1412 Manual will be expanding its line of Tencel products to include animal skins and jungle motifs, as well as Asian designs, in throws, table linens and decorative pillows. It will also be introducing jacquard chenille tapestries in table linens and pillows.

Owen will be making major introductions in licensed products, including Power Puff Girls in printed blankets and high-pile throws, and NASCAR Racers, a collection of four jacquard and two high-pile throws.

Perfect Fit will be introducing new luxury cotton pad and pillow collections offering 233- and 250-count fabrics and premium fills. It will debut a natural down mattress pad, and three styles in its Mattress Enhancer Collection, designed to reupholster old mattresses.

Pillowtex's basic bedding introductions will include the Royal Velvet Extraordinaire cotton blanket; Summit down comforters by Fieldcrest; and Charisma Select down alternative pillows.

Richloom Home Fashions

12th Floor Richloom's WindowOptions line will include a no-print textural drapery on heavyweight cotton duck with a coordinating multicolor floral sheer. The drapery's overall vine-leaf motif coordinates with a tossed floral in taupe, plum and sage.

S. Lichtenberg & Co.

261 Fifth Avenue

Suite 1801 Lichtenberg's introductions will include Sara, a sheer heat-transfer print on a high-twist voile, featuring a photographed, realistic rose-blossom pattern; and Tree of Life, a knitted jacquard that has the effect of a burnout, with an open-knit design on an opaque ground.

Sleep Innovations

Suite 2100

Sleep Innovations will be introducing a new category of sculpted foam products, including Warner Bros.' licensed characters on juvenile nap and play mats and sleep pads. It is also expanding its line of Bassetti bed and bath products.
