NEW WAY FOR OLYMPIC VISITORS TO 'GET THE GOLD!'
INTERNATIONAL ATMs NOW AVAILABLE AT OLYMPICS IN SPAIN
WHO: Millions of American and European travelers -- spectators,
athletes and media -- who have an ATM card or credit card
that displays the familiar MasterCard and/or CIRRUS logos.
WHAT: More than 7,000 MasterCard/CIRRUS automated teller machines
(ATMs) throughout Spain, many of them near popular Olympic
events and tourist attractions in the Barcelona area.
WHEN: Effective immediately, ATMs displaying MasterCard and CIRRUS
logos are available throughout Spain and most are available
 24 hours a day.
WHERE: Throughout Barcelona and towns where Olympic events are
being held: including near the opening and closing
 ceremonies, gymnastics, swimming, soccer, basketball,
baseball and other events. Also at the El Prat Airport, the
main railway station, near the Picasso and Dali museums, the
Gothic quarter and other popular attractions. A partial
location list is available to the press. Cardholders should
look for signs for the "Systema 4B" and "La Caixa"
networks, and then look for the MasterCard and CIRRUS logos.
WHY: Convenience. With hundreds of ATMs located throughout the
Olympic region, travelers can easily withdraw cash from a
bank account, or get an advance on their credit card in
local currency using the same ATM card or credit card and
personal identification number (PIN) they use at home.
Preferential Exchange Rates. Cardholders using network ATMs
will receive the "wholesale" exchange rate, a preferential
rate usually reserved for transactions of $1 million or
more -- and a better rate than hotels or currency exchanges
 offer.
HOW: MasterCard/CIRRUS ATMs in Spain "speak" several languages,
including English, and work like ATMs at home. Cardholders
should contact their banks before departure to ensure that
their personal identification numbers (PINs) will work
internationally and to obtain location information.
