 NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF SATURN CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCED
 TROY, Mich., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The appointment of James E. Farmer as vice president of Corporate Communications for Saturn Corporation was announced today by Saturn President Richard G. "Skip" LeFauve. Farmer had been manager of corporate projects for General Motors Public Relations since 1987.
 Effective immediately, Farmer will have overall responsibility for Saturn's member communications, community relations, media relations, and government/community liaison activities. He also becomes a member of the Saturn Action Council (SAC) which is Saturn's governing body.
 Farmer, 46, succeeds Bruce G. MacDonald who was recently named executive-in-charge of the newly formed General Motors Communications Staff.
 A native of Dayton, Ohio, Farmer began his General Motors career in 1976 at Delco Products Division in personnel relations in Dayton. A year later, he was named supervisor, personnel and public relations at the same division.
 In 1980, he was appointed community relations manager of GM public relations staff in St. Louis. Following this assignment in 1981, he was named assistant regional manager in Kansas City, Mo.
 In 1983, he was promoted to manager of the Middle-Atlantic Region in Washington, D.C.
 Farmer held several advertising, sales and marketing positions with Airtemp Division of Chrysler Corporation in Dayton from 1967 through 1976 prior to joining General Motors.
 He has a bachelor of science degree in marketing from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio.
