NEW TO THE U.S., TOP MEN'S FRAGRANCE
FROM GERMANY CAPTURES TWO 'FIFI' AWARDS
NEW YORK, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- A men's fragrance introduced in the United States less than nine months ago has won two "Fifi" recognition awards, the fragrance industry's equivalent of Hollywood's Oscars.
The awards for best men's fragrance of the year in limited distribution and for best national print campaign for a men's fragrance were presented by the Fragrance Foundation to Davidoff Cool Water in ceremonies June 3 at the New York Hilton.
Although Davidoff Cool Water is the established top seller in Germany, the double award to a new import was considered remarkable.
"A year ago, no one ever heard of us," said Richard G. Hartigan, Jr., president and CEO of the Lancaster Group, USA. "A year ago, no one ever heard of this fragrance."
The introduction also came at a time when, he said, "we had in New York, a great recession." But, he said, "If you have a great product, a great team and retailer support, anything can happen."
