NEW SILICON SURF BRINGS SILICON GRAPHICS DATA ONTO INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Graphics, Inc. (NYSE: SGI) today announced Silicon Surf(TM), an Internet World Wide Web (WWW) information server designed to provide Silicon Graphics' customers and all Internet users information about the company, its partners and its products. The graphical point-and-click interface allows users to easily navigate through text and graphics images and takes advantage of Silicon Graphics workstations' industry-leading digital media capabilities.
"The Silicon Surf information server capitalizes on the Internet structure that is already in place as today's information superhighway," said Bert Fornaciari, vice president of Silicon Graphics' Customer Support Division. "With Silicon Surf we can instantaneously distribute vital sales and support information to current or potential customers around the globe. A wide range of information is now only a few mouse clicks away."
The Silicon Surf information server will be updated as new products and services are announced, providing customers with a single source for the most current information about the company and its technologies. The Silicon Surf information server is organized into the following five categories:
-- Headlines includes press releases announcing new products, relationships, and other significant news from Silicon Graphics. Hyperlinks to product brochures, data sheets and technical information make Headlines a logical place for users to begin a search for information about new products and services.
-- Surf Shop is a "store" of product information that features brochures, data sheets and interactive catalogs. In Surf Shop, users will be able to review hardware specifications and learn about application software for Silicon Graphics' full line of workstations and servers.
-- Classroom describes Silicon Graphics' latest instructor-led hardware and software courses. Information such as objectives, prerequisites, and duration of classroom instruction help users select the most appropriate courses.
-- Techno Corner offers electronic access to volumes of technical information including manual pages and white papers contributed by Silicon Graphics and its partners. Hypertext links to Wide Area Information System (WAIS) servers enable users to seamlessly access archives of Silicon Graphics newsgroups contained on remote systems and to search them via simple keyword searches.
-- Free Lunch offers free software such as the Silicon Graphics(R) InfoNavigator(TM) file navigating system shown in the summer blockbuster movie "Jurassic Park" as well as graphics images created on Silicon Graphics workstations.
