NEW SCSI SWITCH
NEW SCSI SWITCH from GigaLabs allows for up to ten times faster I/O throughput performance than conventional systems. The Jigsaw 8 storage networking switch provides enterprises with the ability to switch SCSI bus traffic directly. The device features an eight-slot modular chassis with a backplane capacity of 12.8 Gbps, ensuring that dedicated, full-duplex 1.6 Gbps bandwidth is available for each of the eight slots. A fully non-blocking crossbar switch fabric minimizes latency within the switch to less than one microsecond. Dual-port SCSI modules yield a total bandwidth of 80 Mb (640 Mbps) per slot.Jigsaw is placed between servers and storage devices. It operates as a transparent device, with the server 'seeing' the unit as a storage peripheral. Distance limitations that have often plagued SCSI are resolved by cascading switches or through remote fiber connections up to 20 km. Jigsaw 8 can provide connectivity to up to 122,850 devices, enabling advanced data storage applications such as remote back-up and disaster recovery, long-distance clustering, and remote mirroring. Jigsaw is fully compatible with current LAN infrastructures and is easily managed with GigaView for Windows 95/NT.
