NEW ROSS 'DRESS FOR LESS' OPENS IN WEST HILLS
NEWARK, Calif., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Ross 'Dress For Less'

(NASDAQ: ROST) is kicking off its "Summer 1992 Grand Opening", on Thursday, July 30, at its new store in West Hills. It is one of 11 new Ross 'Dress For Less' stores opening throughout the country this summer, keeping Ross on track with its plans to end the year with 225 stores in 18 states.
In commenting on this new location, Norman A. Ferber, president and chief executive officer, stated, "The Los Angeles area is our largest and most important market. Our objective is to continue to dominate this trade area by opening new stores in prime fill-in locations, like our newest site in the San Fernando Valley community of West Hills."
The 25,246 square foot store anchors the newly-renovated Fallbrook Mall at the northwest corner of Victory Boulevard and Fallbrook Avenue. The 1.2 million square foot center has been revitalized with a new mix of tenants focused on meeting the needs of today's value-conscious customer. Fallbrook Mall includes such nationally known retailers as Sears, Target, Mervyn's, J.C. Penney and Sports Chalet.
Ferber continued, "At Ross, we offer customers savings everyday on name brand merchandise for the entire family at the most convenient places for them to shop. This focus on value is a priority for both Ross and our customers, and it will remain the cornerstone of all our strategies as we continue to expand throughout the 1990s."
Ross will also open new stores in San Diego and Palm Desert this summer, as well as three new locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ross will now operate 42 stores in the metropolitan Los Angeles market, and 101 stores in California.
Nationwide, a total of 11 new Ross 'Dress For Less' stores will open this summer. In addition to the six new stores in California, Ross will open stores in Spokane, Wash.; Portland, Ore.; Las Vegas; St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Chantilly, Va. With these new openings, Ross will operate 221 stores in 18 states coast-to-coast.
Ross Stores Inc. generated sales of $930 million in its 1991 fiscal year. The off-price retailer offers first quality, in-season, branded apparel and footwear for the entire family at 20 percent to 60 percent less than department and specialty store prices.
