NEW REGULATION ON PROMOTION OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS.
The Agricultural Council adopted, on 17 December, a regulation which merges two regulations on the promotion of agricultural products in the EU and in non-EU countries. The European Parliament gave its advisory opinion on 13 December (see Europolitics 3433). Taking account of acquired experience, development perspectives for markets both inside and outside the EU, as well as the new context of international trade, the regulation will allow a coherent information and promotion policy for agricultural products and their production methods to be developed, as well as food products derived from them, without, however, insisting on the specific origin of a product.
