NEW PRODUCTS INTRODUCED FOR ADULT INCONTINENCE MARKET; MINNEAPOLIS COMPANY RELEASES ACTIVSTYLE PRODUCT LINE

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- American Health Products, Minneapolis, has recently introduced ActivStyle(TM), a new line of products for the adult incontinence market.
The ActivStyle line was created to answer the need for comfort, performance and style for active adults who suffer from light to heavy incontinence. At present, most of the incontinence products on the market are similar to either diapers or sanitary napkins. ActivStyle garments were designed as high-quality underwear, featuring a unique, pleated pocket that holds the ultra-thin, absorbent pads firmly in place and allows for quick and easy replacement. The pads come in both disposable and reusable styles.
"Our market research indicated a strong need for products that were attractive, that didn't rustle when you walked or show through your clothes," said Colleen Richardson, marketing director for American Health Products. "People told us they needed something that wouldn't leak and something that would be more comfortable. We've designed a product line that answers every need of the incontinent adult, and we're confident that our customers will be completely satisfied."
The incontinence market is estimated at between 10-13 million adults, primarily consisting of women over the age of 50. An estimated 60-65 percent of women over 50 will at some time suffer from stress incontinence, which occurs during exercise, laughing, coughing or sneezing. As the American population ages, adults 50 years of age and older will number more than 100 million by the year 2015.
ActivStyle garments come in boxer and brief styles for men and boxer, tap pant and brief styles for women. The fabrics, in a variety of colors and prints, were chosen to be soft and comfortable, with non- abrasive thread and flocked elastic to prevent chafing.
Instead of using Velcro(TM), snaps or buttons, ActivStyle garments feature a one-of-a-kind pleated pocket made of waterproof, breathable fabric, so that both the individual and the clothing are kept dry. All of the garment styles can accommodate any brand of pads, according to the customer's preference.
The ActivStyle pads were designed to offer superior protection, comfort and discretion. The disposable pad design includes a super- absorbent polymer to ensure dryness, while the thin, streamlined style provides excellent comfort and discretion -- even in a changing room or club locker room. The reusable pads are made with a cotton material for absorbency and a soft fleece lining to wick moisture away from the skin.
Other products in the line include absorbent briefs made from a space-age material called Hydrofil(R) for men and women who experience heavy or nighttime incontinence, and a waterproof overbrief made from cottony soft, breathable Ultrex(R). The reusable pads also come in a super-absorbent style for heavy or nighttime use. To round out the line of complete incontinence care products, the ActivStyle line also offers bed pads, utility pads, carrying cases, a hamper and a unique all- natural, non-toxic odor control spray formulated to prevent odor build- up before laundering, and to eliminate stains.
The ActivStyle line will be introduced to customers through direct mail. A customer service line (800-645-1033) has been created to answer questions about the products and help customers choose the products to best meet their needs.
